This engine is a development of the age
old Armstrong siddely Viper that has increased in thrust over 300%
since its original conception. The newest engine develops over 4000lbs
of thrust and there is even a reheated version, the 633.
The 601 model that these are have a 7 stage axial compressor with
no inlet
guide vanes (This was the first model of viper to feature this)
and a twin stage
axial flow turbine.
Static thrust
is over 3750lbs. The starting, fuel and oil systems are engine driven
and totally self contained or "engine furnished" so very
little effort is required to
get these engines running.
Below can
be seen my very nice and complete 601 that has now been sold to
another keen collector.
